Ads on ChatGPT

OpenAI is testing advertisements inside ChatGPT. This is not a rumor — it's been confirmed by sources close to the company, and the implications for how brands reach audiences are significant.

For the past two years, search advertising has lived on two rails: Google and Meta. ChatGPT's entry into this space isn't just a new placement — it's a fundamentally different kind of attention.

When someone types a question into ChatGPT, they're not browsing. They're asking. That intent signal is worth more than almost any other touchpoint in digital advertising.

What this means for GCC brands

The Gulf region has some of the highest AI adoption rates globally. ChatGPT usage in the UAE and KSA is accelerating well beyond the global average. If AI-native advertising is coming, GCC-based brands need to understand it early — before the CPM floor gets established.

Our recommendation: build brand search and brand knowledge now. The brands that have strong narratives, consistent messaging, and clear positioning will perform better in an AI-mediated advertising environment. The algorithm rewards brands that can be easily described.

The strategic play

Start publishing authority content that positions your brand clearly within its category. Make sure your brand's story is on record — structured, searchable, and consistent. When ChatGPT starts serving ads, the brands with the clearest identities will win the placements worth having.
